Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Victorian octagonal solid ash inlaid & carved library / breakfast dining table, from the aesthetic movement, circa 1880, in excellent original condition. The table boasts a solid ash two-plank moulded octagonal top, featuring Greek key geometric ebony marquetry inlay, as well as ebony circular patrea carvings to each corner. The table-top also features a straight reeded apron. The table is supported by a quadriform ring turned and fluted column pedestal, with a turned central finial. The column supports also boast raised ebony lozenge carvings to the base. The chamfered shaped legs terminate on the original brass castors. This library table is well-made, solid in joint and ready to use. The top can be unscrewed from the base to assist with access into the house if necessary.
The table boasts a rich brown ash colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This table would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially in an open hallway, office or library; it would even serve happily as a four-seat dining table. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
