Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian mahogany piano duet stool, circa 1880, which has been newly upholstered in floral cream satin brocade, in excellent condition. The stuff-over seat has been newly upholstered in top quality luxurious cream colour floral pattern structured satin brocade upholstery, with matching braiding. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seat in a fabric of your choice, for an additional £50. The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The seat is flanked by ring turned handles on scribe moulded scroll shaped supports. Below, the stool boasts a moulded & scribe moulded box frame, with a central floral carving to the front and rear. The duet stool is raised on cabriole legs, which display acanthus leaf carvings to the knees and terminate on finely carved ball & claw feet. The legs are also united by shaped, scribe moulded & scrolled cross-stretchers, for added strength. The hinged seat lifts open to reveal two internal storage compartments; ideal for the storage of sheet music, if the item is used as a piano stool. The seat lid will remain open until you close the original solid brass-folding stay on the left-hand side. The compartment roof retains the original mahogany panels to the inside of the lid, as well as the original mahogany base.
This stool features a rich dark brown mahogany finish. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Victorian piano duet stool would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom to living room. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
This antique Victorian duet / piano stool is in excellent condition considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The mahogany frame has been French polished by hand to a professional standard; therefore, the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The seat has been newly and professionally upholstered in top quality floral pattern cream colour structured satin brocade upholstery, finished with matching braiding. The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The upholstery is therefore new, clean and free from any wear, dirt or damage. The internal compartment is completely original with the original working brass stays. Importantly, there are no breaks to the legs or frame. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
