Description:
This is a very pretty antique French provincial walnut dresser base, with three drawers, boasting a stunning colour, circa 1800, in good original condition. The dresser, which boasts narrow proportions, is constructed of solid walnut and features a lovely four-plank top with cleated ends, with three working drawers below, decorated with symmetrical scroll carvings and later period brass knobs, above a shaped frieze with seashell and floral carving. The drawers are lined in chestnut. Built in the traditional manner of joined peg construction, the dresser features the original inset side panels and panel backboards. The dresser is raised on pretty moulded cabriole legs at the front, with block legs to the rear. This is an ideal dresser to serve food and cutlery from in either the dining room or kitchen.
The dresser features a superb warm and mellow walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The dresser would look superb in any hallway, kitchen or dining room. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
This dresser is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the top, leading edges and insides of the drawers but nothing significant considering the age of the timber. The dresser has been polished in our workshops. The solid chestnut lined drawers incorporate later period brass knobs. There is evidence of historical woodworm, which has been thoroughly treated. Please note, it is extremely common to see woodworm in early French walnut and cherry furniture of this age. As the dresser boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic warm mellow chestnut colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The dresser is well constructed, solid in joint with no loose movements and is ready to be used.
