Here is a good quality pair of antique Georgian style Serpentine bedside chests, circa 1970, made by respected and fine quality English reproduction furniture company, Reprodux – Bevan Funnell Ltd. Each bedside chest possesses elegant moulded tops with matching plinths. Boasting an attractive serpentine design with stunning burr walnut veneers and grain configuration to the tops and fronts, the chests comprise three working drawers finished with cock-beaded drawer fronts. The drawers, which are also constructed with dovetailed joints, comprising the original bass swan neck handles and back plates, close flush to the frame. The chests terminate on traditional ogee bracket feet.
The chests feature a classic, warm brown burr walnut colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and grain configuration to the burr veneers and they possess a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These bedside chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room (as lamp stands) or in the bedroom. These chests would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
These bedside chests are in very good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, tops and inside of drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no cup marks or ink stains to the tops of the bedsides. Please note, any colour variation to the tops of the bedsides is due to the natural variation in the grain configuration and patination; this is not a defect or marks to the polish – this is entirely natural. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. These bedsides are constructed from top quality burr walnut veneers, giving a lovely colour and patination. The chests are solid in joint and ready to use.
