Here is an example of a very good quality antique oak Victorian dresser base and rack displaying a deep rich colour with good proportions, circa 1880. Built in the reign of Queen Victoria, is of English origin. The dresser boasts good proportions allowing it to sit in most places in the house. The rack features four deep shelves with a shaped frieze and protruding canopy with the original iron hooks on each shelf. The rack features its original wide oak back boards. The base features three working hand dovetailed pine lined drawers with brass swan neck handles and escutcheons which are pine lined. Above there are five useful small spice drawers with brass knobs. Below the dresser base there is a useful pot board base for storing pans etc. which is supported by six turned oak legs. The dresser boasts good craftsmanship.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room, dining room or kitchen. This item would certainly grace any home and a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
The item is in very good condition and is commensurate with its age. The dresser boasts a very good colour / patination. Nominal old use marks to the top of the base but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Some of the iron cup hooks have been replaced a long time ago. The brass handles are old replacements. Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
