Description:
Here is a fine quality and rare Victorian Anglo-Indian colonial teak dressing table, circa, 1870, in good condition. The dressing table features a rectangular shaped mirror, which is encased with a moulded frame, with a pretty fretwork carved pediment above, supported by finely carved mahogany upright arms. The angle of the mirror can be adjusted by turning the brass knobs, which have steel threaded screw ends that sit into the mirror frame. Further below, there are two levels to the dressing table; the top level incorporates three drawers with the original knobs, all which are teak lined and hand dovetailed. Each level of the table boasts lovely moulded edges. The main section of the table houses two large teak lined hand dovetailed drawers. The drawer fronts also feature elegant scribe mouldings. The large drawers retain their original turned knobs. The table stands on the original elegant ring turned teak legs.
The dressing table features a rich warm brown teak colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition.
This dressing table with mirror would look superb in the bedroom. The item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Provenance:
This table dressing table originates from India and it is likely that it would have been commissioned for a wealthy lady during the days of the British Raj, in colonial India, during the mid Victorian period.
