Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian oak burgundy red leather Captain’s office armchair (circa 1860), in excellent condition. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain burgundy red leather. The chair features an elegant curved leather scroll back, above a bank of fine turned spindles, supported by two large spindles at the front on each side of the armchair. The leather scroll back features lovely oak moulding caps above the larger spindles at the front of the chairs. The sprung stuff over leather seat is extremely comfortable to sit on; it features brass studwork to its perimeter on a moulded bow front rail, flanked by symmetrical scribe carvings to the frieze. The underside of the seat has been webbed in the traditional manner with hessian material. The chair stands on prominent ring turned legs to the front, with a reeded taper, and terminates on the original brass castor collars and original brown mug castors.
The chair displays a mid brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home or office; especially the home office or study, as it is so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
