This is a good quality and very elegant high back antique English ash and elm Windsor armchair, circa 1840, originating from the Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire area of northern England. This high back Windsor armchair is constructed of solid ash to the frame, spindles, arms and legs. The saddle seat is made from a solid piece of elm, which has a stunning grain configuration. The back of the chair features four spindles either side of a decorative central splat. The chair features narrow arms and sits on four elegantly turned legs, which are connected with two stretchers for added strength. This armchair is in excellent original condition, which is what gives its lovely patination and colour this has been generated by the years of cleaning and care they have received. This chair is extremely comfortable, is solid in joint and has a superb colour / patination.

This item is completely original and in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Importantly, there are no breaks to the backs, arms or legs which is common with these types of chairs. The item is solid in joint and free of woodworm. This item has a superb colour and patination.
