Description:
This is a good quality English Regency style flame mahogany bow fronted tallboy chest of drawers, with lovely proportions, circa 1950, in good original condition. Constructed in the style of the Regency period, which was 1810 – 1820, it boasts classic Regency detailing from the elegant brass studded drop ring handles and escutcheons to the shaped bracket feet. The tallboy features a simple protruding cornice, with a solid mahogany top, above six graduated six-drawers with a bow front design. Lovely flame mahogany mirror matched veneers are visible on the drawer fronts, which are also finished with cock beading. The drawers retain their original brass studded drop ring handles and escutcheons, and the oak linings are constructed with dovetailed joints. The chest also features its original backboards and the whole of the chest stands on a splayed plinth and splayed bracket feet. This is an ideal item for the bedroom or landing as it provides lots of storage space for clothes.
The chest boasts a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway, to the living room or bedroom and is very useful as there are so many storage drawers. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
