Table – Description:
Here is a stunning quality English set of 17th Century style 8” solid oak farmhouse kitchen refectory / dining table, which seats 8 people, with exceptional build quality and stunning grain configuration, and 8 English 17th Century style oak Wainscot high back dining chairs, by Taylor & Co, circa 1980, in excellent condition. The table boasts a stunning four-plank solid oak top with cleated ends, which is 2⅛” thick. The table has been constructed in the traditional manner with mortise and tenon joints, and then pegged, with a straight foliate lunette carved frieze, with scroll carved spandrels, to all sides. The table is raised on substantial turned baluster legs, on block feet, which are united by a central stretcher along the length of the table, and a further stretcher on each end. The table top features a lovely colour & stunning grain configuration, having been polished in our workshops. The table comfortably seats 8 people. Benefitting from a central stretcher, it allows you to conveniently place kitchen chairs under the table, without any restrictions. The table is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table. The oak dining table has been solidly constructed and is of excellent quality – it is extremely heavy and matches perfectly with the set of chairs!

This solid oak refectory dining table is in excellent condition, with exceptional build quality. The table has been polished, to a professional standard, in our workshops. Therefore, there are no scratches, cup marks or stains to the table top. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges of the frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The table is solid, with no breaks, damage or loose movements. The table top boasts a fantastic rich brown oak colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This table is extremely heavy, which is always a sign of good quality.

Dining Chairs – Description:
Here is a very good quality set of 8 English 17th Century style oak Wainscot high back dining chairs, by Taylor & Co, circa 1980, in excellent original condition. The set comprises six side chairs and two carver armchairs. The chairs are designed with attractive high backs, which incorporate a shaped pierced top rail, flanked by moulded side supports, which are decorated with finials. Below the top rail is a central moulded panel, with a further a shaped rail below. The armchairs boast shaped, scroll end down swept arms, raised on turned supports, connecting the back to the seat. The chairs feature a solid oak seat, which is comfortable to sit on. The chairs stand on turned and block front legs, with sabre legs, terminating on swept feet, to the rear. The legs are connected by double stretchers to the sides, with a single stretcher to the rear and a further turned stretcher to the front – all of which provide additional strength. The set of chairs boasts the original polish; therefore, they have a fantastic depth of colour and patination. The underside of the chairs features the Taylor & Co label. The chairs would be ideal for use in a dining room or boardroom.

This rich original colour cannot be re-created if the chairs have been re-polished.

Taylor & Co:
Taylor & Co of Folly Farm, Haywards Heath in West Sussex, were makers of traditional handmade English oak furniture. Trading until relatively recently, their products included such items as sideboards, dressers, cabinets, bedroom furniture, dining tables, chairs, mirrors and desks.
Dining Chairs – Condition Report:
These Wainscot dining chairs are in excellent original condition. This is a true set of chairs (they have not been matched together from other sets). Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chairs, but nothing significant considering the age of them. There are no breaks to the backs, legs or stretchers. The chairs boast the original polish; therefore, they boast a fantastic patination and colour, which cannot be recreated if the chairs were re-polished. The chair frames and joints are all in good condition, solid in joint with no breaks and are ready to be used. These are well-constructed, good quality chairs – they are heavy to lift!
