Here is an example of a very good quality early antique George II English oak three-drawer country dresser base (circa 1740). This dresser has originated from the North West of England in the UK. The top of this dresser is constructed from two solid oak plank tops and is finished with moulded edging. The dresser base consists of three working cock-beaded drawers, which feature brass swan neck open fretwork handles. The moulded edge design is repeated on the frieze. The dresser frame is constructed using the traditional pegged construction method. The drawers have been constructed in the primitive method using butt joint construction the drawers are pine lined. The dresser features the original backboards. The whole of the dresser sits on turned front legs terminating in bobbin feet, with a later connecting stretcher.
The dresser features rich red and brown colours. As its boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

The item is in excellent condition which is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no marks water or ink stains to the top of dresser. The dresser features a rich red and brown colour. As its boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The drawers feature later brass swan neck handles and the connecting stretcher is a later replacement, possibly Victorian. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
