Here is an example of a superb quality antique George III flame mahogany chest of drawers, circa 1780 – 1800. The five working graduated drawers feature the original brass swan neck and oval escutcheon handles. Each drawer features the original working lock there is one original working key. The top features a moulded edge. The chest boasts cock beading edging to the drawers (a sign of good quality) and the drawer linings are constructed of top quality oak. There is an elegant working brushing slide to the top of the chest. The chest sits on splayed bracket feet and in between there is a very pretty shaped frieze. The backs of the chest feature pine back boards. The chest is constructed of top quality solid mahogany timber throughout. During this period, England was importing top quality timber from the colonies.
This chest would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hall way or the bedroom. This chest would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
This chest is in excellent condition and is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There has been some minor restoration the back of the top of the chest (see photos) some time ago. The chest has an excellent colour and patination to the timber. The brass swan neck drawer handles, locks and key are all original. The backboards are original also. The brushing slide green baize has recently been replaced. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
