Here is a superb quality antique George III oak and mahogany cross-banded dresser base sideboard, circa 1780 – 1800, originating from the country of Cheshire. The top of the dresser features a rich golden oak two-plank top, which has been cross-banded in mahogany. Likewise, the front of the dresser features cross-banded mahogany drawers. The drawers are solid oak lined and hand dovetailed they all have working locks and a key. The drawers feature open fretwork brass swan neck handles and escutcheons. To the centre of the dresser base, is an original square fielded and mahogany cross-banded cupboard door. Inside the cupboard is a removable shelf in case you need to store larger items. The dresser stands on its original ogee shaped bracket feet. The original backboards are constructed of pine, which is typical for a dresser of this provenance. The dresser has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
