This is a superb quality and very rare George III oak Shropshire dresser base and rack displaying a fantastic deep rich colour, circa 1780. The dresser boasts great craftsmanship, colour and patination. This dresser boasts a protruding mahogany and oak inlaid cornice with satinwood stringing. Beneath we have an open rack with shelves and two outer banded shaped cupboards which feature three middle shelves and one internal small drawer each side. This rack sits in a moulded edge on the base. The base features a superb quality two plank oak top which is cross banded with mahogany. Below there are three drawers which feature the original brass escutcheons and handles. The locks on all drawers are in working order and there is a key. The drawer fronts are also cross-banded with mahogany. The drawers are pine lined. The base is supported by four reeded and tapered spade feet. This dresser boasts a superb rich golden oak colour which has been created from nearly 300 years of care and is a sought after size and the small size makes it an excellent practical furnishing piece.

Condition Report:
The base and rack are original. Nominal old use marks to the top of the dresser and leading edges but please remember this has been a working dresser for nearly 300 years. There has been a very old Victorian repair to the inside of the left hand door and feet. The dresser has an excellent golden and brown patiation derived from years of cleaning and care. Free of active woodworm. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
