This is an attractive and superb quality antique William IV mahogany upholstered Prie Dieu prayer / ladies chair, circa 1840. This type of chair was normally used in high catholic families. The mahogany chair is upholstered in brown velvet draylon and a brass studded frame. It features a “T” bar back, lovely shaped arms with padded rests. The chair sits on fluted mahogany legs and the original brass cup castors on the front. To the back, there are splayed legs – a sign of good quality. The four legs sit on the original brass castors. The seat is fully sprung and is extremely comfortable. This is also a sought after chair size.

In very good condition commensurate with age. There are no marks or wear to the upholstery it is very clean. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no breaks or repairs to the chair. Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
