Here is a very good quality pair of 5ft 7” wide French antique provincial chestnut benches, circa 1890. The benches are constructed from top quality solid chestnut using the traditional mortise & tenon construction method with square design ends. The benches sit on a pair of sturdy shaped style legs with connecting stretcher supports below the seat for added strength and stability. The style legs are shaped (which is a sign of good quality). As these benches are constructed of chestnut, there is a fantastic soft grain configuration to the seats.
As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
