These are a fine quality pair of French Louis XVI neo classical style yew wood bedsides, circa 1950, in good original condition. The bedsides feature refined cross-banded tops, incorporating mahogany string inlay surrounding a yew wood centre. Boasting a refined and attractive design, with stunning yew wood veneers and grain configuration to the tops and fronts, the bedsides comprise two working drawers finished with cock-beaded and cross-banding, with further mahogany string inlay. The drawers, which are constructed with dovetailed joints, also retain their original metal floral carved circular handles and close flush to the frame. Decorative supporting spandrels connect the frame of the bedsides to the tapering legs.
The bedsides feature a distinctive, mellow yew wood colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and grain configuration to the veneers, and they possess a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These bedside chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room (as lamp stands) or in the bedroom. These chests would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
These bedside chests are in very good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, tops and inside of drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no cup marks or stains to the tops of the bedsides. Please note, any colour variation to the bedsides is due to the natural variation in the grain configuration and patination; this is not a defect or marks to the polish – this is entirely natural. The drawers, which are smooth running and close flush to the frame, also retain the original handles. These bedsides are constructed from top quality yew wood veneers, giving a lovely colour and patination. They are solid in joint and ready to use.
