Description:
Here is a fine quality pair of English 17th Century style reproduction demi lune solid oak credence side / hall tables, by Bryn Hall, circa 1995, in excellent condition. This style of table would have originally been used in Church from the mid-17th Century onwards but then became popular in country houses. The tables, which are of a demi-lune design, each feature a moulded top, above a single oak lined, dovetailed drawer. The drawer on both tables displays the Bryn Hall label, as well as boasting a cock beaded front and retains its original metal drop handle on a circular escutcheon. Below is a shaped frieze and the tables feature panelled sides. The tables are raised on ring turned legs, united at the base by a pot board, with slightly raised border to prevent items rolling off. The pot board frame is moulded and also acts as stretchers between the legs, which terminate on block feet. The tables have been handmade using traditional pegged construction.
The tables feature a rich brown honey oak colour. They have a fantastic colour, depth and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received. It is impossible to re-create this colour if it has been re-polished.
These tables would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway to living room. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment, as they’re extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Bryn Hall:
Bryn Hall was a prestigious brand established by the Phillips family in the early 1990’s within the British antiques and reproduction furniture business. Based in the North Wales, they were suppliers of traditional handmade English oak furniture. Trading until relatively recently, their products included such items as sideboards, dressers, cabinets, bedroom furniture, dining tables, chairs, mirrors and desks.
Condition Report:
This pair of credence tables is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the tops and leading edges, but nothing significant considering their age. The drawers are solid oak lined and feature dovetail construction, cock beaded fronts and retain their original metal drop handles on circular escutcheons. There are no breaks to the legs. The tables have been French polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard. The tables therefore boast a stunning colour and patination. The tables are solid in joint and ready to be used.
