This is a superb pair of late Victorian Arts & Crafts design mahogany inlaid bedside chests, circa 1880 – 1900. They each have three graduated working drawers with hand dovetailed joints, cedar drawer linings (a sign of good quality) and the original wooden knobs. These bedsides are attributed to Lamb of Manchester cabinet makers (but not signed). They feature intricate Tonbridge chequer work inlay design to the tops, chamfered sides and drawer fronts. The chequer inlay is constructed with satinwood and ebony. The drawer fronts and the frame of the besides are strung with ebony the corners features the traditional square cornered design. Each bedside features an unusual pull out and retractable night stand / cup holder with brass handles which are ideal for placing drinks onto so to avoid marking the bedside tops. Both chests are constructed of top quality solid mahogany timber finished with a superb flame mahogany finish. During this period, England was imported top quality timber from the colonies.
These chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hall way, living room or the bedroom. These chests would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
These bedside chests are in excellent condition having been re-polished. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. These bedsides have been adapted from a dressing table some time ago. The splash backs are old replacements. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The bedsides feature the original wooden knobs and locks there are two working keys. The drawers are cedar lined which is a sign of good quality. These bedsides are attributed to Lamb of Manchester cabinet makers (but not signed). Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
