Here is an example of a pair of very good quality Victorian flame mahogany bedside chests, circa 1840 – 1860.

These excellent quality bedside chests constructed of flame mahogany and have a single working drawer with dovetailed joints, a turned wooden knob. Each bedside has a working cupboard door and fixed shelf, circa 1840 – 1860. The doors are operated by the original brass side door locking mechanisms. The bedsides chests boast traditional round cornered edges which are mirrored in the supporting plinths. They also feature “splash backs” at the back of the bedsides on the tops. The backs of the bedsides also feature mahogany back boards. The drawers are pine lined. Both chests are constructed of top quality mahogany timber. During this period, England was imported top quality timber from the colonies.
These chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hall way, living room or the bedroom. These chests would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
These adapted bedside chests are in excellent condition commensurate with their age. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is a slight colour variation to each bedside but this is hardly noticeable – this is due to daylight exposure over the course of the time. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The spring loaded brass door locking mechanisms are original and in good working order. These bedsides have been adapted from a dressing table some time ago. Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
