This is a superb quality antique rosewood Victorian double-ended upholstered settee, circa 1850. At this time, England was importing the best quality timber from its colonies. The frame and shaped legs are constructed of solid rosewood. The frame features attractive up-swept arms with a pretty shaped serpentine front and lovely two lovely arched down swept double ends, which stand on sturdy cabriole legs. The frame is upholstered in a red plum draylon material and features a deep buttoned upholstered back. The couch has a firm sprung base. The settee seats 2 – 3 persons.
Condition Report:
The frame, arms and back of the settee are solid in joint and have no breaks or damage. There are some indentations to the draylon material on the seat (see photos). There are some indentations to the upholstery. The indentations are not significant but are visible and this is why we have reduced the price of the settee. There is no other wear, damage or marks to the upholstery on the front, sides or back of the settee. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
