This is a very good quality antique oak dresser base, circa 1740 – 1760 (George II period) originating from the English border counties (Shropshire, Hereford, and Gloucestershire). The dresser base consists of three working pine lined drawers with brass escutcheons, brass geometric swan neck handles, pad feet and fielded panel sides. The dresser features the an original central drawer lock and what we believe to be the original key.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room, dining room or kitchen. This item would certainly grace any home and a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
The item is in very good condition commensurate with its age. Excellent colour / patination. The dresser has the original pine lined drawers and back. The brass geometric swan neck handles and escutcheons are old replacements. The central drawer has a working lock and what we believe is the original key. There is a small split / shake to the right hand side of the top of the base. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Free of active wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
