Description:
Here is a superb quality late 20th Century reproduction of a Tudor style dark brown solid oak and teak carved king size (5ft wide) full tester (four poster) bed, boasting fine quality and craftsmanship, in excellent condition. This is a superb quality bed finished in a mid-dark brown oak colour, having been handmade from a combination of predominantly solid oak & other hardwoods. The bed is in the style of the English Tudor period, which dates from 1500 to 1530. This four poster Tudor style bed shows exceptional craftsmanship. The panels are detachable for ease of transport, easy access into the home and assembly. This bed fits a standard UK king size mattress (5ft” wide x 6ft 6” long).
The headboard can be dismantled into two panels (if necessary) to allow easy access up narrow staircases or through doorways. The headboard is constructed of three large arched ‘flowerpotte’ carved panels, interspersed with moulded rails, interspersed with moulded inset panels. The bed displays a recessed panel roof, with a central carved floral panel, flanked by moulded rails, finished with a moulded external canopy, supported by four shaped pierced corbels.
The footboard incorporates three inset panels, interspersed with reeded and moulded rails. The footboard block stiles are decorated with trailing grape vine carvings, enriched with punch work, defined by a sunken matted ground. Two moulded posts support the canopy at the front, above the bed. The side rails incorporate further inset panels, interspersed with reeded and moulded rails.
This four poster Tudor style bed is accentuated with style, romance and tradition. The impression created by this bed will without doubt be a memorable one as they are genuinely unique and recreate the ultimate in luxury of a bygone age.
This bed is not to be confused with other four-poster beds of lesser quality in the market place today. This bed is handmade; with hand carved panels, unlike other machine carved beds. The design, build quality and superstructure (thickness of panels) are of superior and exceptional quality. It is an extremely heavy bed!
