This is a medium sized mid to dark brown rustic Colonial Military Teak Writing Box, circa 1880. The outer box lid is decorated with a central brass plain plaque on the top and front of the box. The brass work is connected by double lines of brass stringing on the lid. The box also boasts several brass bindings on the lid and sides. The box has a working key insert into a brass surround. The interesting interior boasts many compartments (both visible and hidden secret compartments). The central removable tray has one lid above further compartments along with central pen compartments. There are further lids surrounding the removable compartment. Much of the interior is constructed for easy removal. The box contains the original letter rack. The box also has an original working lock and key.

Condition Report:
The box is in excellent condition commensurate with their age. Some nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Excellent colour patination to the timber. No missing parts to the box. The hinges are in good working order and the lock and key works. Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
