Here is a good quality antique English Victorian oak revolving office armchair, made by Shannon Ltd. Company of London, circa 1890, in excellent condition. The chair features a curved bar back, with scroll ears connected to an elegant central splayed vertical fan back splat and wrap around arms, which are fixed to the seat. The chair has a solid oak saddle contoured seat, which is extremely comfortable. The chair sits on four splayed oak legs that terminate on brass castors. The chair rotates 360 degrees the seat height can be adjusted by turning a ribbed metal screw on the underside of the chair. The chair mechanism has been cleaned and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair also features a reclining action. The chair is extremely comfortable to sit on as it features a lovely saddle shaped seat.
This item features a rich golden oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report
The chair and its mechanism are in excellent working condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair mechanism has been cleaned and serviced and is in excellent condition. The tension of the reclining action can be adjusted by turning the large screw and the chair can be raised or lowered on the central steel thread. The chair features replacement brass castors, which are also in good condition. Importantly, there are no breaks to the back, arms or legs. As the chair boasts its original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
Provenance
Shannon Ltd. Company began trading in 1886 from their premises in 14 – 16 Ropemaker Street, London. The business had American origins. They were cabinet makers and retailers of top quality office furniture during the late Victorian period and early 20th Century. Their main customer base was the city of London and South East but they also sold furniture further afield.
