Here is a good quality antique American ash & elm revolving sheriff’s office armchair, circa 1890). Such chairs were commonly used in the law enforcement and offices in the latter part of the 19th century in America. The chair features an elegant bar back above a set of elegant turned vertical spindles, with single piece shaped sweeping arms, which connect to a shaped saddle seat. The elegant shaped splayed legs sit on mug castors. The chair features an Angus of London mechanism, which allows the chairs to rotate 360 degrees, recline backwards and adjust the seat height through a circular nut on a threaded bar below the seat. The mechanism on this chair is in good condition and the chair is very comfortable.
This item features a deep rich ash & elm colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
