Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Edwardian mahogany bow fronted glazed display cabinet, circa 1900, in good original condition. The cabinet is constructed from top quality solid mahogany, boasting a moulded cornice with decorative beading above a single bow fronted door, which retains the original shaped glass, secured by a single horizontal glazing bar. The glass is in excellent original condition, with no damage. The door retains its original brass drop handle, original working lever lock and key. The door opens to reveal four shaped shelves, which can be removed if necessary. The base of the cabinet is decorated with a shaped frieze and is raised on tapering spade feet. The cabinet retains its original backboards; there are also two original chains attached to the roof to secure the cabinet against the wall, so that it does not fall over.
This cabinet boasts a rich dark brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The cabinet would look superb in a variety of rooms, specifically the dining or living room. It would certainly grace any home, in either a traditional or contemporary setting; it is a great investment as it’s an extremely functional piece. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
