Description:
This is a fine quality pair of Georgian mahogany dining chairs, circa 1780, in the style of the Chippendale period, with newly upholstered seats, in good condition. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a shaped top rail, with a finely executed pierced central fretwork back splat, flanked by vertical moulded rails. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality embroidered structured silk & cotton upholstery with a gold diamond pattern on a wine-red background, and new hessian undersides. Therefore, the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm but comfortable at the same time – you do not sink into the seat. The chairs feature moulded chamfered block legs to the front, with sabre legs to the rear, united by ‘H’ stretchers for additional strength. Chairs with chamfered legs denote quality. This is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from other sets of chairs.
The chairs boast a rich, dark mahogany colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
This pair of mahogany Chippendale dining chairs would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, office or library. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely set of furniture.

Condition Report:
The chairs are in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frames, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There have been old minor repairs to the pierced fretwork splats (this is to be expected from full period Georgian chairs) – the splats are solid in joint. The chairs have been French polished and all loose joints have been glued in our workshop; therefore, the chairs are now solid in joint. This is a true set of chairs (they have not been matched together). The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality embroidered structured silk & cotton upholstery with a gold diamond pattern on a wine-red background. Therefore, the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm but comfortable at the same time – you do not sink into the seat.
