Description:
This is a superb quality pair of antique Victorian mahogany bedside chests / nightstands, circa 1860, in excellent condition. They are pedestals from a Victorian dressing table, which have been adapted into bedside chests. Each bedside chest boasts elegant thumb moulded round cornered tops; this design is also reflected in the plinths. One bedside has four graduated working drawers, whereas the other bedside has three graduated working drawers (the bottom drawer is a large double drawer). The drawers are decorated with stunning figured mahogany fronts. The drawers are constructed with fine hand-dovetailed joints, solid ash drawer linings and the original mahogany knobs. The drawer linings even boast quarter beading to the frames; this is a true sign of quality. The bedsides stand on their top-quality rounded mahogany plinths. The chests are constructed of top-quality mahogany timber imported from the colonies during the Victorian period. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides; they are heavy to lift! Ideal for use in the bedroom as bedsides or lamp tables in the living room.
The Victorian nightstands feature a rich brown mahogany colour. They have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the bedroom. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
