Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Victorian burr walnut & marble sideboard, ideal for use as a bookcase, cabinet or cupboard, displaying four stunning fretwork door panels, circa 1850, in excellent condition. Decorated with a floral carved & beaded frieze, there are four working doors below incorporating exquisitely carved fretwork panels, with upholstered material backing. The two central doors open to reveal a large storage area, with a single height adjustable shelf. This is flanked by single doors either side, each with twin height adjustable shelves. The doors retain their original working brass lever locks (with key). The sideboard is raised on its original bracket plinth.
The sideboard would look superb in any hallway, dining or living room. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
This marble top sideboard is in excellent condition, which is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The marble is in excellent condition with no chips, crack or damage. The doors retain the original brass lever locks (with keys). The sideboard is raised on its original bracket plinth.
The sideboard boasts its original polish and patination, which explains why it displays a stunning colour – this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The sideboard is well constructed, solid in joint with no loose movements and is ready to be used.
