Description:
This is an attractive pair of fine quality English Georgian style figured mahogany bedside chest of drawers / night stands by Bradley, constructed in the late 20th century, circa 1980, in excellent original condition. The tops are decorated with fine figured mahogany veneers, and cross-banded and inlaid detail, with straight fronts, comprising pull-out brushing slide and three drawers below. The drawer sides are mahogany lined, featuring dovetail construction, as well as cock beaded, crossbanded & string inlaid fronts, incorporating classic Georgian style brass swan neck handles, secured by circular escutcheons. The chests are raised on a moulded frame, terminating on Georgian bracket feet. One of the bedsides also displays the Bradley label inside one of the drawers. The bedsides are well constructed – they are solid in joint and heavy (which is a sign of quality); they do not wobble and are ready to use.
This pair of chests would look great in a variety of rooms from the living room as lamp tables, or the bedroom as bedsides. They are an extremely useful pair of night stands to have in the house. The chests boast a warm mellow colour with a lovely patination to the timber.
Bradley:
Bradley began producing reproduction furniture in 1973, priding themselves in their quality of work. Defining their style as being based on design elements of the 18th Century, but with a contemporary twist, Bradley manufactures their furniture using elements of traditional cabinetmaking and hand-finishing techniques, coupled with more modern processes for the purposes of efficiency. Many of their finishing styles include traditional mahogany and yew tree, as well as a mellower mahogany finish to their products. With a conscientious approach to their manufacturing, they also produce their furniture sustainably, and are founder members of the Woodland Heritage scheme.
