This is a very good quality mid to late 17th Century (period Charles II) West Country (Wiltshire) oak coffer with good proportions. The coffer features double heart motifs on the front panel which is usually attributed to this area. The top features three square insert panels and reeded edges. The sides are paneled and the lid is attached with its original loop hinges. The coffer stands on its original length styles and features a rich deep colour / patination. The coffer is ideal as a storage box in a bedroom in front of a bed.
