Description:
This is an exceptional quality antique English Regency mahogany Canterbury, circa 1820, in fine original condition.The Canterbury is divided into three compartments, by four elegant concaved shaped top rails, with simple slatted uprights. The compartments are ideal for storing magazines, newspapers or music sheets. All four corners feature straight concave supports, which terminate on the original brass castors. The dividing rails are also decorated withconcaved shaped supports. Below the partitions is a single mahogany lined drawer, boasting cock beading andintricate hand dovetailed joints and the original working brass lever lock (with working key). The drawer also features the original brass turned knobs. The Canterbury reflects a simple but refined style, typical of the Regency period; it has been constructed from the finest mahogany timbers.
The Canterbury features a rich mellow brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This item is in fine original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and corners, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this colour and patination cannot be re-created through re-polishing. The mahogany lined drawer features fine hand dovetailing and runs smoothly. The drawer boasts the original turned bass knobs with the original working brass lever lock (with key).The panels are complete, with no missing sections and are solid in joint. The feet and brass castors are also all original and in good condition. The Canterbury has been constructed from the finest mahogany timbers. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
