Description:
Here is a fine quality pair of antique English Georgian style burr walnut inlaid bedside chest cupboards, circa late 20th Century, in excellent original condition. Each bedside boasts elegant moulded tops incorporating herringbone feather inlay and mahogany cross banding to the top and drawer fronts.
Boasting classic Georgian styling with stunning burr walnut veneers and grain configuration to the tops and fronts, the chests comprise two different storage solutions; one bedside features faux drawers, made to look like a bank of three drawers, which is actually a cupboard door, which opens to reveal a cabinet space including two height adjustable / removable shelves. The other bedside externally looks exactly the same, but has a working drawer at the top, which also includes a removable writing slide/shelf, which rests on top of the drawer when open. The drawer is pine lined & dovetailed, runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below are two faux drawer fronts which make up the door to a smaller cabinet space with one adjustable / removable shelf. The drawer, along with all of the faux drawer fronts, boast cock beading and circular brass drop handles on floral escutcheons. The chests terminate on traditional bracket feet, with castors underneath. Please note, the castors can be removed, if preferred.
The chests feature a classic, mellow brown burr walnut colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and grain configuration to the burr veneers and they possess a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These bedside chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room (as lamp stands) or in the bedroom. These chests would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
These bedside chests are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, tops and inside of drawers, but nothing at all significant. There are no cup marks or ink stains to the tops of the bedsides. Please note, any colour variation to the tops of the bedsides is due to the natural variation in the grain configuration and patination; this is not a defect or marks to the polish – it is entirely natural. The drawer is smooth running and closes flush to the frame. The cabinet interiors are clean and retain all the pegs necessary for holding the adjustable shelves. These bedsides are constructed from top quality burr walnut veneers, giving a lovely colour and patination. The chests are solid in joint and ready to use.
