Description:
This is a very good quality pair of French Empire style burr walnut, kingwood, satinwood inlaid & brass ormolu bedside tables, circa 1950 – 1970, in excellent original condition. Exceptional craftmanship is visible in the choice of first-rate materials used and quality of the construction of these bedsides. The tops boat shaped mirror-matched burr walnut veneers, decorated with satinwood string inlay, with a brass moulded gallery surround. Bellow sits a single drawer decorated with kingwood and satinwood string inlay, featuring its original circular brass knob. The drawers are constructed with dovetail joints which run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The sides of the tables are gracefully curved, with further string inlay. The tables are supported on elegant moulded tapering legs with fine chamfer details, which boast floral brass ormolu cartouche mounts to the top corners, with further brass ormolu moulding below, terminating on moulded brass toe caps. The legs are also united by a shaped, walnut veneer lower shelf, inward bow shaped on all sides and boasting further string inlay and a brass moulded gallery. These bedsides are highly decorative, solid in joint and ready to use.
These bedsides feature a mellow walnut colour. The bedsides have been cleaned and French polished to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore they have a fantastic colour and patination. This is compounded by the years of care and cleaning they have received.
These bedsides would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room, bedroom or hallway. They would even work as lamp tables in a living room. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment, as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
