Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English George II oak provincial lowboy side table, circa 1740, displaying a lovely mellow colour and stunning grain configuration, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a twin-plank moulded top, with a well-proportioned over hang, above a single drawer. The drawer features old replacement (likely later Georgian or early Victorian) brass swan neck handles on circular escutcheons. The oak-lined drawer is constructed with butt joints, runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. Below, the table is decorated with a decorative shaped frieze and stands on fine quality baluster turned legs, which are united by stretchers, giving the item additional strength. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional method.
This item features a lovely rich mid brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
